Enlisted from Cumberland County PA in the 209th regiment of PA Volunteer Infantry September 6, 1964., Col. Tobias B. Kauffman, commanding officer.
He was a Private under Capt. John B. Lande's Company "A".
Moved through Virginia to encampments at Camp Potter and participated in capturing Ft. Harrison. Then they moved south to Alexandria VA.
Participated in Grand Review at Washington DC on May 24, 1865. Mustered out with honorable discharge May 31, 1865.
Resided in Mount Holly, PA.
His grandfather fought in the Battle of Brandywine.
John Alexander Goodyear was Ezra Goodyear's 1st cousin.
