Free Genealogy Biography of Caleb Gray,
Pennsylvania Volunteer of the Civil War



Caleb Gray

Caleb, son of Baldwin and Mary Gray, was born in Lancaster county, September 12, 1831, died March 10, 1908. Early in life he settled in Pittsburgh, and was a member of the volunteer firemen of that city. He was a carpenter, and lived in Sewickley and in Allegheny City, now Pittsburgh, North Side.

He served in the civil war in a cavalry regiment recruited in and around Pittsburgh, Company H, 4th Cavalry, 64th Regiment.

In polities he was a Republican. He died in Pittsburgh, aged seventy eight years. He married Julia McClelland, born in Tuscarawus, Ohio, in 1835, daughter of Joseph McClelland, a Scotch-Irish minister of the Methodist church, and his wife Julietta De Mar, born in France. The four children of Caleb Gray are deceased excepting Louis M., now residing in Pittsburgh, and Charles Lester.
